CREIGHTON….ITS HERE! Jay’s ReNEST 2024 is gearing up for another year of living out the Creighton mission by promoting sustainable choices while caring for our neighbors here in Omaha. More information on the history of the Campaign is on the page next to this. This page is all about ReNEST 2024.
VOLUNTEER?
We are actively recruiting volunteers. All we need from you is one, two hour shift. It literally could not be easier to support a campaign that makes a real difference for our neighbors.
You can either be a collection site volunteer: be present for 2 hours collecting (maybe help carry!) and organizing donations while thanking donors. OR you can be a dorm advertiser, standing in the dorm entries reminding people we are open and what we accept. We need BOTH all days of the collection campaign. Sign up is easy, details and a link to sign up is here.
DONATE!
This year we will have 3 sites for collection and one day when we are available to help move materials out of the Atlas apartments near Campus.
On campus, you can drop off furniture, kitchen items, small household appliances and goods, and clean linens…. all items must be in GOOD condition and clean! (this is a gift to a neighbor… who would give dirty laundry as a gift?). These donations will go to the Furniture Project serving Omaha families in crisis as they reestablish their lives.
AND new this year, we will be collecting toiletries and personal hygienic products of all kinds (shampoo, deodorant, soap, etc). While new you haven’t used but don’t have room to take home, partially used items are also welcome (ok, not deodorant, ew! But shampoo that’s got 1/4 left… BRING IT). These items will go to Together Omaha, another non-profit serving our neighbors with a specific call to support those coming out of homelessness.
YES… I get it… the dumpster is close and you are very busy.
Who isn’t busy? Plan ahead and take the very tiny amount of time and energy to redirect items away from rotting in a landfill IF they could provide for a neighbor that can’t provide for themself just now. Mission statements are great. Living mission is the point!
WHERE AND WHEN? This year we will be open Saturday, May 4th from 1-3pm at all on campus sites and will be outside of the Atlas with the Furniture Project vans. Then we will be open EVERY DAY from 3-5pm, Monday, May 6th, Tuesday, May 7th and Wednesday, May 8th.
On main campus look for the POD near Swanson/Degelman or McGloin/Graves. We will also be in the Kenefick Theater. We are 100% volunteer so we cannot be open 24/7, we have studying and grading to do too. BUT we are happy to accept donations each day from 3-5pm!
